There has never, in the history of my weddings been a cooler wedding than Esa and Scott’s. First of all I’m completely obsessed with anything Anthropologie! Esa’s wedding…straight out of their catalogue. Everything from the light pink tissue paper puff balls to the crackle chalk board signs leading guests in the right direction. Every last detail was thought of and crafted by Esa herself. (Well, almost every detail…the amazing David Yurman earrings and the Blue Vera Wang Lavender flats, were both of course purchased :)

Esa and Scott live downtown Anchorage, Alaska, in an apartment above Scott’s dry cleaning business, Snow White. Rather than throwing lots of ridiculous money at a ballroom reception, they invested and created a roof top deck above their store. Sounds crazy? It looked PHENOMENAL! Not only were we over looking the super fun town of Anchorage, we were smack dab in front of the coolest mountains and prettiest lights! And, the amazing thing about weddings in Alaska is the sun never goes down! It’s a full on party until the wee hours :)

Fact. Alaskan’s are THE nicest people on the face of the planet. Hands down…I thought maybe my Minnesota peeps were my favorite friendly’s until meeting Alaskans. They’re just so genuine…maybe it’s because they’re forced to play board games all winter, drink hot cocoa and just take time to chill, or maybe it’s because their land locked and have an incredible sense of community. Either case, LOVE them. So glad to be great friends (yeah, go ahead and fill in the B-F-F here) with so many Alaskan awesome’s now.

Lastly, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to photograph their wedding if it wasn’t for my great friend, Josh Newton. Thank you Josh for setting us up! Honored to have photographed their wedding. Congratulations again you two!

Congratulations to Caitlin & Billy!  What a gorgeous, perfectly designed, destination beach wedding!  Caitlin and her family worked tirelessly on making this shabby chic, beach wedding perfect.  It was so perfect, Style Me Pretty even agreed!  See their featured wedding here on Style Me Pretty.  I’m so happy to have been a part of such a fun day, their friends and family were incredibly nice.  It’s been fun getting to know them, since our adventure in Greenwich, http://www.sarakauss.com/blog/2010/09/12/greenwich-engagement/ last September!

Sara was stunning in her Rivini dress and Manolo Blanik wedding shoes, Richard was handsome, James was adorable and the wedding was rediculously fun!! What more could you ask for? I’m so excited for my friend Sara, who I’ve known for almost 10 years now! What an honor to be her photographer.

My favorite photo is at the very end…just maybe my favorite EVER! (even though that changes every wedding :)

Thank you to Lauren and James for such a fun day! We didn’t stop laughing the entire afternoon. I learned all about basket ball brackets and how Butler is the greatest team ever :) — and they are apparently! Going to the Final Four, pretty nifty. Cannot wait for your wedding you two!

My cousin Megan and I grew up spending days at our grandmothers cabin in Indiana, learning how to sew, play board games and making tin-can lamp shades! We’ve grown up and Megan is getting married! It’s funny how this [favorite ever] engagement session sorta happened. Tacho proposed to Megan in Santa Barbara, California and I just happen to be coming to Santa Barbara…so we just happened to plan an engagement session on the exact day they met four years ago, in the city where they were engaged! It was meant to be. And it also just happened to be the funnest time to be in SB, during Fiesta Weekend (hence the glitter and sparkles everywhere!) I’m super excited to photograph their Costa Rican destination wedding in January…they’re the perfect couple and excellent models! This session will go down in history as one of my most amazing adventures in photography, I love it it was with them.
